Mark's second collaboration with choreographer Eleesha Drennan premieres on the 5th and 6th December at the Dance House, Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. The evening-long work features three extraordinary dancers with music by John Woolrich, Andy Scott, Xenakis, Graham Fitkin and newly composed work by Mark. The music will be performed live by Julian Warburton and Simon Haram. More details here.

Shakespeare Sounds and Sweet Airs

Sound and Sweet Airs is a celebration of 20th and 21st century choral and instrumental music inspired by Shakespeare's poetry to mark the 450th anniversary of his birth. The programme combines the performing forces of Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra's new music ensemble Kokoro and the London-based chamber choir Canticum and features Mark's 2007 work Stealing Poison alongside music by Oliver Knussen, Hywel Davies, Thomas Adès, Howard Skempton and Ralph Vaughan Williams. St Paul's Sinfonia perform Tirlun

The wonderful St Paul's Sinfonia continue to bring a fantastic programme of orchestral music to Greenwich and Lewisham. This year marks the orchestra's 10th birthday and as part of the celebrations they will perform Mark's 2008 orchestral work Tirlun alongside Sibelius' Pelleas et Melisande and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No 3. The concert is on Friday, June 20th 7.30pm at St Stephen's Church, Lewisham. More details here.
Channel Rose

Mark is very excited to be working again with the choreographer Eleesha Drennan on a new project: Channel Rose. Eleesha was recently awarded a Sky Academy Arts Scholarship in partnership with IdeasTap to support the project. The scholarship provides funding for artists to help develop their creative practice. Mark and Eleesha will begin collaborating later this year on the new piece. More details here.
MacDowell Colony Fellowship
January 2014
Mark has been awarded a prestigious MacDowell Colony Fellowship. He will be in residence at the MacDowell Colony in New Hampshire from late January until early March. During the residency Mark will be working on his new BBC Radio 3 commission for soprano, baritone, chorus and orchestra for the BBC National Chorus and Orchestra of Wales. Mark has commissioned a new text on the theme of 'creation' from the poet Owen Sheers with generous funding from the Jerwood Charitable Foundation. The work will be premiered in 2015.
